OCTOBER 21st is Photo Day at CHES!

We are very happy to offer the families of Cape Hatteras Elementary School a personalized school photo day this year! We’ve tried to reimagine the traditional school photo experience to give your student one that leaves them feeling valued, appreciated, and excited about the photos, all while making the process of viewing, ordering, and receiving prints easy, efficient, and affordable. Since this is a new process for school photos, we hope that this post answers any questions you might have!

WHAT TO EXPECT ON PICTURE DAY
- Students can expect to be warmly greeted, made to feel comfortable, special, and valued.
- They’ll come into the gym with their class, and when it’s their turn for photos, the first thing we will do is take a photo of them with our phone. (This gives us a reference photo for their gallery.)
- Next, we’ll take several photographs: headshot, full length, silly, smiling, etc. Our goal is to have everyone relax, have fun, and show off their genuine smile. Each student will get a couple of minutes for their photos to be taken. Some will take less time than others – the point is we won’t rush them through!

HOW TO PREPARE FOR PICTURE DAY
- Wear your FAVORITE outfit! Something that you love and makes you happy!
- Since these will be used as yearbook photos, we’re using a grey studio backdrop for a modern, classic, + clean professional studio look.
- You can bring a jacket, sweater, hat, etc. to add in some of the photos too.
- Think of a silly pose that makes you laugh. Be ready to bring your best silly face!
- We’re going to make this fun and easy! Promise!
HOW + WHEN TO VIEW YOUR STUDENT’S GALLERY
- The site to view your photos is: https://my.photoday.com/gallery/ches-fall-portraits
- When you go to the site you will be prompted to look up your student’s gallery. You’ll need to enter ALL of the following information in the form you’ll find on the website: first/last name, grade, and Student ID number. For security reasons we cannot allow access to student’s galleries unless you have all of this information. You must fill out ALL of the search fields. If you do not have access to your Student’s ID, you will need to contact CHES administration for this information.

- Once you enter this information, you’ll be given an access code to view your student’s photos. You will also be asked to set up an account with your cell number and email. This will prepare you to receive email and text updates when your child’s photos are ready!
- Photos are estimated to start uploading on Tuesday, October 28th. If you have signed up with PhotoDay (instructions listed above) you will receive text + email updates when your gallery photos have uploaded.
ORDERING PRINTS

- Yay! You’ve received notice that your photos have uploaded, now what?
- Click the link received via text/email to view your photos.
- You’ll enter your gallery and see a myriad of ordering options.
PURCHASING OPTIONS:
- ADVANCE PAY CREDITS: These credits are only available BEFORE picture day. It’s a credit that you’ll apply to your order when you go to purchase. The PERK is you get FREE SHIPPING with Advance Pay Credits.
- SHIPPING: All prints are printed directly from our professional printer. These folks are awesome. The color, paper, and prints are excellent. They’ve been our printer for over a decade. Your prints will NOT be delivered to the school. They will be mailed directly to you.
- BEST DEAL: For the first 48 hours after the photo galleries go online you’ll have the option to purchase all of the high resolution digital files of your individual student for $85. (plus tax) After that time the price will default to $35 per digital file. You can also use Advance Pay credits to purchase the digital files. If you’re a DIY printer kind of a person, this is the best option! Keep in mind this deal is only available for the first 48 hours of the gallery launch!
- PRINT PACKAGES: We’ve carefully curated print packages to offer something for everyone’s budget. From $15-50, the print packages listed give you up to 45% off of retail pricing. You can also mix and match photos – they don’t all have to be one pose!
- A LA CARTE: You’ll find a huge variety of print sizes, specialty items, and digital files in the print shop.
- VIEWING THE PRINT SHOP: You can view a full list of digital, print, and specialty item pricing when you log into your student’s gallery and click on the SHOP tab.

That’s the process from start to finish, but we know there are still some questions lingering… We’ll do our best to answer your questions in the list below.
QUESTIONS YOU PROBABLY HAVE + ANSWERS TO THEM!
WHAT IF MY CHILD IS ABSENT ON PICTURE DAY?
We will have a make up picture day, along with Spring Portraits in the Spring. While we have not set a fall make-up day, that’s a possibility. If your child is going to be absent from school on picture day, let us know by emailing us at kate@pullenphoto.com. We’ll see what we can do about setting up a fall make up day!
HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL I GET?
We will do our best to keep a standard number of photos for each student. every student will get at a minimum: headshot, full length, silly (if they want one:), and mid-length photo.
WHAT IF I HAVE MORE THAN ONE STUDENT? HOW DO I SIGN UP WITH PHOTODAY TO VIEW BOTH GALLERIES?
You will sign up via the sign up link with your first students details. Then, you’ll be given an access code to view that student’s gallery. Sign out of PhotoDay and go back to the sign up page. You will enter your second (and subsequent) student information in the system. Make sure to use the SAME email and cell number. You’ll receive the access code for your additional students, and you will receive updates for all students. When you log into your account, your home page/dashboard will show you all of the individual galleries.
CAN I PURCHASE PHOTOS OF MORE THAN ONE STUDENT WITH A PACKAGE?
No. While print packages can mix and match poses of one student, they cannot include another student.
HOW LONG DOES THE BUY ALL HIGH RESOLUTION SALE GO ON?
When the galleries go live, for the first 48 hours the BUY ALL DIGITAL FILES sale for $85 will go live. After that time, the only way to purchase high resolution digital files is to buy them individually for $35.
WILL THE GALLERIES EXPIRE?
Yes. Galleries will expire in June. However, all package purchase options will expie 12/31/25. After which time the only option will be to buy photos a la carte.
CAN I GET A DIGITAL FILE TO SHARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
Yes. You can purchase the files sized for social media usage in the gallery
I AM FACULTY/STAFF. HOW DO I VIEW MY PHOTOS?
We will email all faculty/staff directly with an access code for your gallery once it has posted online.
CAN I SHARE MY STUDENT’S ACCESS CODE WITH FAMILY MEMBERS?
Yes. Parents can share their student access code with friends and family. Friends/Family will also have to login to make an account, but they will be able to view and purchase photos.
CAN YOU CHANGE MY ACCESS CODE?
No. Each access code is unique and cannot be changed.

- To view your child’s photos, please go to the link below. Enter ALL the information requested, and you will be given an access code to view your child’s gallery once it has posted.
