We strongly believe that you don’t have to sacrifice valuable moments to get incredible wedding portraits.
It’s not only a belief… It’s an undeniable fact. We’ve lived it. Seen it. Experienced it.
You CAN have amazing moments and stunning portraits. With a little bit of thought, creativity, and a clear plan, we make sure that you don’t have to settle for one or the other.
We really value our clients. By the wedding day, we know each other well enough that we could spend hours hanging out… but they didn’t invite the most important people in their lives to their wedding day so that they could hang out with us for an hour or two taking portraits.
The truth is, neither YOUR PHOTOGRAPHERS nor YOUR PHOTOS are even remotely the most important thing on your Outer Banks Wedding day!
With photojournalistic wedding photography we move away from making photography the center of attention and put it where it belongs: on your story. Your authentic story informs the photography – not the other way around. So, you want to enjoy cocktail hour and get sunset photos? We’ll make it happen.

Realistically, we only need 20 minutes around sunset make to get jaw-dropping images. How can that be? Well..
- We double-up: We’re both experienced lead photographers, so during the portraits we’re both making powerful unique images. We can literally cut the time it takes in half with this approach.
- Experience: We KNOW sunset on the Outer Banks. Every sunset is different, sure. That’s one reason it’s so magical. We’ve spent two decades learning the nuances of the way sunset light moves and shapes the image. It’s an old friend, so for us, sunset portraits are a fluid, stress-free, familiar conversation.
- Unique Creativity: We’re always looking for ways to expand our creativity. We’re constantly learning, evolving, and finding new ways to highlight expressions of love against the Outer Banks landscape. Your relationship brings something altogether unique to the image, and helps us create something wholly unique.
- Plan: It comes down to pre-planning and visioning together. This comes hand-in-hand with working closely with your wedding planner. Making sure that you have a planner and photographer that listen to you and your dream not just for the nuts and bolts of the day, but the whole experience is crucial.
The photos featured in this post are from Mike + Kelly’s Outer Banks Wedding cocktail hour at the Black Stallion Event Home in Corolla. Mike and Kelly wanted, more than anything, to EXPERIENCE the day with their family and friends. Sadly, that’s novel idea for the fast paced hustle weddings where the bride and groom are rushed from one thing to another without a chance to take it all in. With some expert time management and strategic planning with Kerri at the Proper Setting, Mike and Kelly’s were able to LIVE FULLY in every moment of their day. Congrats, y’all and THANK YOU Kerri!
